How to Store Medicines Safely at Home
HealthRiver Pharmacy Team · 2026-02-22 · Safety
Jabalpur summers regularly cross 42°C, and most medicines are meant to be stored below 25–30°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Keep medicines in a closed cupboard in the coolest room — not on top of the refrigerator (heat from the compressor) and not in the bathroom (humidity). Insulin and some syrups need refrigeration at 2–8°C but must never be frozen.
Keep the strip in its original foil until you take the dose, since the foil protects it from light and moisture. Check the expiry date every few months and return expired medicines to any HealthRiver counter for safe disposal — never flush them.
Finally, keep everything out of reach of children, and never store two different medicines in the same unlabelled box.
